Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Zoe popped in for a coffee this morning. She has Wednesdays off, and brings her mum over to a local hairdresser, which is perfect for a wee catch up. She had great news - Leo (whom I looked after when he was a wee toddler) has got into one of the city’s prestigious private schools.

So we decided to go down town for lunch. There’s a new ‘Street Food’ area that we haven’t been to, and doggies are allowed. And we were most impressed. There are a dozen different kitchens providing a variety of food. And they have a very efficient way of ordering food from any of the kitchens, and it’s brought to your table. It seats hundreds, with an outdoor area as well. We’ll be back!

We then walked through town, as JR was going back to the shop from yesterday to check on the coat she returned. Archie went with her. We all took the bus in, but the others walked back. But I came to my bus stop, and declined the invitation to go browsing round the shops. I came home.

We came straight through the St James Centre - JR knows her way around - and had to use the lift (Archie doesn’t like the escalators). So we whizzed up and down a few times while Archie was intrigued with the changing psychedelic walls. It’s the first time we’ve been in one without crowds and prams.
