Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

It was a sunny day, and we’d decided to go into town to check out the brand new Gleneagles Townhouse. Archie had been for a big walk with Denise, so he was happy to stay at home on his own for a couple of hours. We’ve always tried to go in on a Saturday, and it’s always mobbed.

Another former bank building - we have quite a few in the city, now being put to use as gorgeous restaurants and bars. And what a fabulous place it is. The ceilings were spectacular (Extra). Apparently the bedrooms are dog friendly, for a mere £100 (extra) a night! We sat up on the bar stools, from whence we could survey the whole scene, but we just had a wee glass of crémant.

It appears that JR’s ‘slapped face’ of last week, which she thought had gone (passed on to me…) is still around. She’s not feeling well (achey) and first put it down to overdoing the gym session (they do really full-on circuits, not just pottering about).  She was keen to come home with me when we finished and NOT go window shopping. It was then that I realised that JR wasn’t in top form because that’s a first! She has since dozed all afternoon on the sofa, and has one bright red cheek. Tomorrow’s gym session has been cancelled. On checking with Dr Google, it seems that aches and pains in adults can go on for weeks… though it also says once you’ve had it you can’t get it again…

We sat out in the back garden for a while when we came home. SO NICE to see the sunshine and have a bit of warmth, though I think that’s our lot - back to cloudy and mizzly for the next couple of days.
