Garricks Temple and Villa

A lovely sunny day,  not quite as hot and a bit of a breeze. I cycled to Walton on Thames with a couple of friends and we had lunch in a pub there. This is a photo of The large house that the famous actor 
 David Garrick (1717-1779) lived in and the Temple that he built in 1756 to honour Shakespeare as he acted in many of his plays. 
Also see the extra, this boat Astoria is very near and  is a grand houseboat built in 1911. In 1986 it was bought by David Gilmour of the Pink Floyd who made it into a recording studio and has been used to record many of their records.  Apparently he bought it after seeing an advert in Country Life in his dentists waiting room! It is not really visible from the road that goes from Hampton Court to Sunbury and very few people seem to know about it.

The towpath was surprisingly quiet compared to at weekends so it was a good route mostly off road, and quite bumpy in places, on the towpath past Hampton Court, Molesey Lock  and Sunbury Lock.
On the way back we went via a Bushy Park. Not quite 20 miles but enough to make me feel quite weary!
