Diary of an Edinburgher

New iPad!

Archie had a wee bit of a bad night last night. When he was outside for a piddle, he just stood, constantly licking his lips, nose up in the air. He refused to come in, I had to push him. He then spent several hours licking and standing by the front door. He didn't go to bed, he didn't sleep. I could hear him, shuffling a bit, licking, licking. But he didn't do the running around bit that usually accompanies his 'turns'. When I was at the toilet about 3am, I brought him back to bed, but he went wild to escape and ran off. He just has to get through it himself.

He seemed fine in the morning, in his bed, as if he’d been there all night. He and I took a stroll round the Links this morning, via a Police Box coffee. I didn't have a cardi on, which was silly, because, yes, there's still a 'fresh' breeze. One woman chatted to me and agreed that Edinburgh always has a breeze, keeping it 'nice and fresh'. One way to look at it.

Back home for a pleasant morning in the front garden. JR then went off for a haircut, while I cleaned the car of seagull sh*t. LOTS of it!! They are SUCH pests.

JR rang the river cruise people to confirm the booking! Then we went into town to get JR a new iPad. Hers is a really really old one, but they gave her £45 for it, which is not to be sniffed at.

From there we popped in to the nearby Gleneagles Townhouse for a wee celebration drink. Oh, and the best chips in town, covered in rosemary salt. Delicious.

Cross the road to get the tram back along Princes Street. I asked JR where her shopping bag was... er, she'd left her brand new iPad in the restaurant. Luckily she's a fast mover, and made it there and back as the tram arrived.

I'm still very unhappy about the council taking away one of our local buses, the most convenient one, the one we used most often, so that meant a different bus, with a bit of a walk at the other end. I was stuffed. (8,297 steps).

PS Archie’s already tucked up in bed tonight…
