Bees

I’m glad the bees like this plant even if it is invasive.

I didn’t believe it, it sounded far fetched to me, but during the Russian coup attempt (to distinguish from the US coup attempt), Wagner shot down and destroyed some of the Russian military’s air equipment, seven aircraft. Wagner’s head apologized, sort of, but pointed out that they were attacking them.

The Institute for the Study of War says that the day has split Russian ultranationalists into two camps, those who want to know how the Wagner Group was able to get so incredibly close to Moscow with essentially no resistance and those who want to talk about something else. It did show that Russia has no soldiers left in country, everybody is off fighting Ukraine, Moscow had to get Chechen soldiers to save it.

Naturally, this has all wigged out the Russian elites. Sometime last year I read a piece about dictatorships and regime change. It said that dictators always seem unassailable and regimes unchangeable and then suddenly they aren’t. When they happen they seem to happen quickly. Political scientists have a terrible time predicting regime change. Smart people hide their opposition. Chances are the next regime will not be a democracy, but as the whole thing with Ukraine was so clearly stupid hopefully the war will end.
