River of Flowers

Saturday: #NationalMeadowsDay

https://www.plantlife.org.uk/events/uk-national-meadows-day/

All of our grass is currently a “wildflower meadow” - the small area in front of the house has wild orchids growing there - for the very first time!! There’s purple self-heal, white clover, yellow buttercups and the grasses are “flowering too” :-)) MrD has promised to NOT MOW it … maybe I’ll keep reminding him!!

The larger grassy area was suffering from the drought and intense heat of May and June - it looks good now with white clover, buttercups, mixed wild grasses flowering.

Grass cut later today and orchids still standing …!

We still have lots of birds in the garden: blackbirds are eating red gooseberries, elderberries, raspberries, slugs, earthworms. The bees and other insects enjoying their nectar/pollen foraging, the birds and other invertebrates

Our garden is home to so much wildlife. Heard that the hedgehogs are still around too - they’ve just moved to someone else’s garden :-))

Enjoy your Saturday night XXXX XXX XX

Nos da pawb / goodnight all xx
