Happy 50th birthday Beryl!
This afternoon Mr hazelh, Jon, and I wandered over to the Trout Anglers' Club to wish Beryl a happy 50th birthday. Because two out of the three of us had another social engagement this evening, we were amongst the first of Beryl's guests - along with a couple of dozen of toddlers and babies and a few fraught parents! It was really quite difficult to move about the venue due to the danger of accidentally stepping on a small child. That said, it was fun outing and I now have an idea for Paddy's birthday present: membership of the club.
We arrived at Beryl's party in the sunshine. Just as we left the heavens opened with one of the heaviest downpours that I have ever experienced in the UK. The three of us hid under a bus shelter until it was safe to re-emerge again. My extra shows the extent of the downpour.
Our evening date was in Portobello. There we enjoyed a lovely meal of prawn cocktail, stuffed herring with boiled potatoes and salad fresh from the allotment, and summer pudding. Between the courses we played two games of Catan and one of Exploding kittens. I won the first Catan game, and our host the other two games.
Exercise today: 7k run; walking (15,404 steps including run).
