Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Good job done!

Elizabeth came to take Archie out today. As she's on a 'career break' she's much more flexible, and has to fit in holidays and trips as well. Archie just goes bonkers whenever she appears.

I suggested we go for brunch locally, but JR, when she comes home from the gym, just loves her three course breakfast/brunch/lunch.

As we sat out in the sun we couldn't help but notice the 'elephant in the garden' ... the very straggly hedge badly in need of a seeing to...  I had thought we could leave it until we came back from our next holiday. I hate trimming it, then having it looking nice, but going away and missing out on the vision.

But I was persuaded, as we're not going away for a couple of weeks yet, and it would be quite an eyesore if we left it till we came back.

All was going well, I had done two sides, when... POP! It must have blown a fuse. Checked the fuse board, sorted the offending switch, but still no joy. Must be an amp. I accosted a man who happened to be walking by. Men (generally) know about such things, I find. He poked and prodded and checked the fuse box, but declared he didn't know. Perhaps a new hedge clipper was needed?

Then we noticed that the cable had a nick in it. Now, when it popped, it was nowhere near the cord, so I didn't immediately think of that. It must have been an old nick which had finally given up. So I fixed it and then we could continue with the task. Gosh it looks SO lovely when it's done... for about two weeks...

Archie thinks I can’t see him behind the acer…
