Paper and Ink

Mrs C has been dropping hints about getting a decent photo printer, but I initially feigned deafness especially when I found out what it would cost.
But then I decided I needed a new amp. Arriving home after placing the order with R&T, I told Mrs C I’d had second thoughts and she should go ahead and get the new printer. When she asked about the cost, I told her not to worry. “In fact” I said “why not get extra inks and some paper as well.” This was not really unbridled generosity on my part, more a case that the cost of the amp I’d ordered was higher than I’d originally thought.
Anyway, the printer was ordered and would be delivered by DPD on Wednesday evening (to avoid the gas works). If not in, they would put it in the garage. It arrived via FedEx yesterday, the guy had to walk from the end of the road because it was blocked by the gas people and he left it with our neighbours rather than in the garage! So, on the plus side it arrived one day early but that was the wrong day at the wrong time. Also, it was delivered to the wrong location and via a totally different courier to what we had been told!
Still we’ve got it now, and this afternoon’s fun task was installing it and setting it up. All done via an app on Mrs C’s phone, it was pretty straightforward. It doesn’t use ink cartridges, instead you fill six separate reservoirs with the different colours. Simply push the ink bottle onto the correct reservoir and it automatically starts filling and stops when the correct level is reached. No wonder Mrs C is smiling! I did have to finish the Wi-Fi set up on my PC though as the app kept saying it couldn’t find anything!
After a bit more faffing, we were able to print photos and documents wirelessly from all devices in the house. The interface on my PC isn’t as user friendly as the one for the old printer, but I was able to do what I wanted without too much difficulty.
Our first attempts have demonstrated the quality of print we can aim for and I’m sure things will only get better as the settings are fine tuned. And it only takes up a little more space on the desk than the old printer. I’m so glad I suggested we got it ;-)
