Cruisin’

We were hoping to book a last minute holiday this afternoon, and had in mind a cruise - either ocean or river, we weren’t really bothered. However, we were soon disabused of the notion that there might be some cheap last minute bargains on offer. The prices you can see on that website I photographed are per person - over £10k for the most expensive, with the others all weighing in above £4k! Other operators were not much cheaper.
So we switched to looking at more “conventional” cruises, but found it quite difficult even to find ones that were sailing on the dates we were wanted. And those that were available either didn’t go anywhere we fancied, or were surprisingly expensive. We went to Norway in 2018 for about £1500 all in. The identical cruise now is well over £3k and that’s more than we want to pay to do something we’ve already done! And as that was about the cheapest cruise we could find, we reluctantly decided we were not going to be setting sail anywhere this year.
After an afternoon staring at screens, my head was thumping, so we’ve given up for the day. We’re going to go old school tomorrow and visit the one remaining travel agent in Kendal, to see if we can get inspiration for where we could go for a weeks holiday without breaking the bank. Just as long as it’s not anywhere in southern Europe - we don’t do heat!
