Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Marsha, but not as we know her…

Marsha arrived at 9am, not with her usual energy, vim and vigour, in fact she hasn't been well for the last week, and it was touch and go whether she should come. The wee soul just hopped into Archie's bed and stayed there all day, emerging now and again if there was a visitor, or to bark at a passing rubbish truck and eventually in the afternoon to have a wee dander round the back garden.

When JR came back from the gym, Archie and I took a walk down to the hardware shop to buy a few things - new LED bulbs for a start - many of them seem to be starting to flicker alarmingly. I do hope they won't all go at once - we have 16 of them, and they're not cheap. Archie was a bit rude, barging in, rushing up to the owner, demanding a treat (she was actually serving another customer). However, I did spend quite a bit in the shop.

Apart from that activity, I have spent most of the day watching the Women's World Cup football. In fact the Ireland/Canada game was great - non-stop action. One wee Irish lass kicked a corner and it swerved right into the goal!!! Nobody touched it, and it fooled the goalie. I've never seen a male footballer doing that!

JR was busy, of course. She took Archie out in the afternoon, and has been planning food and nibbles for a little soirée we're having on Friday. Fingers crossed we can be out in the back garden, but the weather is a bit unpredictable. Mind you, it's drastically more unpredictable in many other parts of the world, so we can't complain.
