In Repair

Checking over my kit before tomorrow night’s gig, I noticed a deep gash on the wireless “dongle” that plugs into my guitar. Absolutely no idea how it happened - I can only assume (based on the width of the cut) that I smacked into a cymbal at some point during last week’s gig.
Anyway, it still works and nothing has actually broken off. You can’t buy a replacement (they’re sold in matched pairs with the receiver that plugs into the amp) so I figured the best thing was to try and stabilise it to stop the crack spreading.
Mrs C has a glue that dries hard and clear, so it was just a case of running a thin bead of it into the gash. But not before I’d masked off the undamaged bit and used a fine file to smooth off a few rough edges.
As Mrs C was the expert in using the product, I left it in her capable hands to actually apply it. Pretty pleased with the result - there is still a visible cut, but it is now filled with the glaze. Just need to stand a bit further away from the drummer from now on.
Despite it threatening to rain all day, it surprisingly stayed dry and I was able to strim and mow the lawns this afternoon. There was just enough of the old line left in the strimmer to get the job done, but after I’d finished, I refilled the reel with some of the new line I bought yesterday so it’s ready for next time.
My broken tooth continues to annoy, but at least no more bits have fallen off today.
