Grey Heron

The little female heron flew over to me as I entered the park. She was joined by the adult male and the nervous male. I had just started feeding them when much to my surprise the  Heron chick (pictured) from yesterday landed as well. I wondered if I she (pretty sure it's female) would let me get close enough to feed her. There was no doubt there she just barged her way in stood next to me letting out a really primaeval screech until I fed her. I threw a piece of fish to the little female. Not happy with that the chick marched "head low" over to the little female and attacked her! A real attack as well, she's obviously too young to know the protocol for non contact "attacks" that they usually follow. The little female backed off immediately. The chick then marched back to me and waited. It was quite funny as the crows and gulls also kept well away from her. I gave her more fish and managed to feed the little female as well. The two male heron kept well back, although I did get a bit to each of them as well.  I then made my way to the clearing and was joined by the two males who were quite happy to share what was left. The crows followed me around and got biscuits.
The extra is a better shot of the chick!
