Abstract Thursday: "Close Up"
For Ingeborg's AT challenge this week here is a close-up photo of steam - or at least as close as I could get (the photo is quite severly cropped). The steam is from the Flying Scotsman steam locomotive, which was pulling a special excursion train from York to Edinburgh this morning. I was able to capture a shot on my phone as it came through our local shopping centre - the full photo of this magnificent beast is in the extra.
This year is the locomotive's centenary year so it's scheduled to do quite a lot of trips. It's probably the world's most famous steam locomotive and has covered over two million miles during its life. It's been around the world to countries like Canada, the United States and Australia and has been part of the collection at the National Railway Museum in York since 2004 after a public fundraising campaign to save it for the nation.
