September 15
I decided to drive out to Rainbow Haven this afternoon, then around thru Cow Bay and down into Eastern Passage. I thought the waves might be bigger than what they were. Since Rainbow Haven is a provincial park, it was closed due to the impending storm. Like several others I parked near the exit, others parked near the entrance, and walked in. I didn't go all the way to the beach, I just wanted to walk along the marsh to check out the shore birds. I saw 3 blue herons, 1 great egret, several gulls, ducks, semipalmated plovers and greater yellowlegs. Just as I was leaving I spotted this black bellied plover at another area of the beach.
We worked this morning, despite the rain. When I looked at the forecast it was supposed to stop by 10 am, instead it rained till after noon.
E had been working on another job for me this week, so I took a couple of the crew over there after we finished our job and unloaded the truck to pick up the bags of debris. I left A here to move the plants on my deck to sheltered areas. So I am ready for what ever Lee brings.
The current forecast has Lee coming ashore between Yarmouth and Digby in southwestern NS, then crossing the Bay of Fundy into New Brunswick, cutting across the southwestern part of NB then moving into western PEI. They are still saying we could get hurricane force gusts of wind and because all the leaves are still on the trees we could have some power outages. I hope that we don't get any power outages here. Will just have to wait and see what happens tomorrow.
