Around Bonassola
Today we decided to join the shorter, easier walk, of the two walk options, which took us up and behind the village, before descending a different way. It was a good choice as it was hot (25 C )and about 80 % humidity, plus our leader lives in the village and is very knowledgeable about the geology, history, geography, flora etc.
The main blip shows a typical scene in a hamlet in the hills, with gardens filled with Plumbago, Lantana, Bougainvillea, Oleander, palms, cacti and succulents. The extra was taken looking back at Bonassola. It was a bit hazy hence the sky and sea not looking as blue as yesterday. We had a delicious lunch( in a little restaurant )of fresh anchovies and tomato salad. We walked through pine avenues, Holm oak woodland, maquis, and vineyards and olive groves, and even came across rockpools in a streambed. It really was delightful.
On our return, we went for a short swim in the sea to cool off.
