Strawberry Hill Flower Festival

This morning I went to Strawberry Hill House for the flower festival. Lovely to have such a sunny morning.

We opted to have the guided tour with one of the people who curated it.  This was a good move as although there was a hand out to give info about each exhibit she explained so much more.

The rooms inside are very varied and the exhibitors had chosen their location and the arrangement was meant to be suited to the room in some way.

There were so many different arrangements, all using British flowers. Many had dried foliage. The contributors are all eminent flower arrangers so there many ‘weird and wonderful’ arrangements, some were lovely and really fitted the rooms they were in but others were not to my taste at all. A bit like when you go to an Art Exhibition and like some exhibits but not others.  The first extra was one of my favourites. It is a floral crown and some people stood underneath it to have their photo taken. The second extra is in the Blue Bedchamber and all the flowers and foliage are found in the Northumbrian Forest where the creator lives.

This afternoon I planted lots of bulbs in pots and then watched the England Rugby game.
