Live it loud!

Cut from this side!

In this digital age, images don't get printed out as often and fewer will get properly displayed and framed.

Tonight I made new mounts cut for the prints I produced last night in time for tomorrow's competition.

Its been a while since I've had my mount cutter out to do this. I've been able to re-use mounts from the last couple of competitions, so, it hasn't seen the light of day recently. Inevitably, they have too many miles on the clock and will no longer lass muster with an external judge.

It's a great deal easier to get pre-made mounts nowadays than it used to be, but, you're still restricted to fixed sizes and ratios.
The beauty about this device is the ease with which you can make your own mounts to what ever size up to A2 size and in what ever colour you like.
Once you've got it set up (and work out how to get it right again after it's been stored), you can cut any simple mount within a couple of minutes. Multiple masks or multiple aperture mounts take a while longer but you have the freedom to create your own mounts and perfectly and at much lower cost than getting them made for you.

I've had this gizmo for a few years now and it has easily returned its cost, though, not initially cheap at around £100 (then), it is much easier to use than simple hand held mount cutters. If you regularly make mounts, its well worth it.

Harder though is to make perfect bespoke frames. I've yet to master this.
