Grand Hotel

Our hotel is called “Grand Hotel Vesuvio” and you can see why. It is grand - in the hotel sense of luxurious rather than large - and Vesuvius definitely dominates the skyline. I took this picture in the gardens, where we spent a pleasant afternoon just relaxing. There are actually two doves, but I could only get one of them in the shot and include the volcano as well.
We went down into Sorrento this morning for a bit of last minute shopping and managed to get everything we were looking for. We’d scoped out which shops we wanted to go to earlier in the week, so were back in the Hotel by lunchtime.
Which was good, because I have come down with some sort of lurgy - runny nose, sneezing and headaches. One of the shop assistants was suffering similarly and she said it is due to the sudden change in the weather. I also think there may be a bit of sunstroke in the mix.
Hopefully I won’t be too bad tomorrow, because we have had the bad news that our flight had been brought forward an hour to avoid a baggage handlers strike. So it’s going to be a very early start to get up, finish packing, check out and try and grab a bit of breakfast before boarding the coach to the airport.
Trying to extract some positives from the situation, if it all goes according to plan, we should now be back in Manchester in plenty of time to get to tomorrow evening’s show.
