Charles III Royal Cypher

Today I went to the exhibition at the London Guildhall - Treasures of Gold and Silver wire. A very interesting exhibition with a mixture of very old artefacts, some that have been reconstructed and some much more modern. When you look in detail the ‘embroidery’ work with so many types of gold and silver wire is so intricate and must have taken hours and hours to do. Quite a few of the items were made at the Royal School of Needlework, now at Hampton Court.
The photo is of two coats of state trumpeters of the Household Cavalry. Interesting to see the cyphers of the late queen and Charles together. I did see a TV programme with Patrick Grant ( Sewing Bee fame ) before the Coronation where they were in the workshop which made these uniforms.

Also see the extras which are modern pieces of work that I really liked.

I had not been to that area of London..by the Bank of England..for several years. It was surprisingly quiet probably because it’s Friday and also people are maybe working in the many modern skyscrapers and not going out to cafes etc at lunchtime.

It has been a very busy week for me so I’m looking forward to a rest and staying at home over the weekend!
