Day dawned fair

A relief after the endless rain (to return tomorrow) and we stood around marvelling at the stillness and the sunshine.  I had a notes call with the BBC that was very successful but that ran on too long for me to get to an appointment in London at lunchtime, so I have had to postpone that.

Travelled up in a leisurely way and swung by the office to pick up a bag with Rory present in it.  Towards the end of the afternoon I popped out to get a few things for him and the heavens opened and I sheltered in Margaret Howell’s Wigmore St shop and bought a jumper.  Oh dear!

Went over at 6ish to take up babysitting duties.  Beetle and Cheryl going out for their anniversary meal.  Both babies were angels until I tried to put them to bed when they howled.  I kept popping in and soothing them and finally they went off.

Ate the M&S curry B bought and then watched the final episode of Once Upon a Time in Northern Ireland.  It was as powerful as the others but I did question why they skipped over the Omagh bombing which made such an impact at the time.  I think largely it that the story was framed by who they were interviewing and in this case it was a widower who’s been haunted by grief since his young wife was blown up in an outlying bomb on the Shankill Rd but who went on to become part of the reconciliation. Brilliant television.
