Stormy Weather

It feels like we’ve spent all day sheltering in the house from Storm Debi, which has been sweeping through Cumbria today. But it’s actually been quite a productive day. We took my car for a service first thing - just before the storm arrived - and then took advantage of the early start to go to the gym. While we were in there, the rain arrived with a vengeance so we abandoned a plan to to go to Asda and headed straight home. Which was lucky, because our hairdresser turned up within a few minutes of arriving home - despite us thinking she was not coming until the afternoon. Seems there had been a diary mix-up, the afternoon visit is the one scheduled for Christmas week, not today! Anyway, no harm done and haircuts duly carried out.
By the afternoon, the storm was in full spate with wind and rain aplenty. Various reports of trees down and blocked roads in the local area but, apart from the Acer in the front garden being stripped of most of its leaves, we seemed to have got off quite lightly. I may have spoken too soon though, as the last gasp of the storm dislodged a fence panel. It’s not fully flattened, but I think it’s pretty well trashed. I won’t really know until I get a chance to look at it in the daylight tomorrow morning.
The storm had just about died down by the time the garage phoned to say the car was ready. It was the big service this time, with a big bill to match! Still, the next one isn’t due until 2025 so plenty of time to save up for it. They said they’d given the car a good wash but - as you can see - it was very hard to tell if it was clean and shiny or not. Something else to check tomorrow morning. Tuesday is going to be a busy day I think.
