Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

A walk round the Links this morning, and then popped to the shop to pick up some custard. We needed custard to go with the apple crumble we were having for lunch. Zoe was popping over in the morning, so I invited her for a soup lunch, but JR can't just do soup for visitors.

It was good to catch up with Zoe. She was a first year teacher when I first came back to Scotland, and she had a hard time a particularly bullying head teacher, but she hung in there. She also worked at JR's school, and it's a tough job.

Anyway, once she'd gone, we got ready for Maggie and her mum and dad coming in the afternoon. G&Ts and fabulous nibbles, including baked Camembert. Yum yum.

Once the visitors had departed, we couldn't wait to get started on the next (final) series of The Crown, which 'dropped' tonight. Actually, we spent the first 20 minutes on Season 1, Episode 1, thinking, 'Gosh, they've got a lot to catch up on - Elizabeth wasn't even queen!' - must have been the gin.

Still some left in the bottle, as you can see...
