An Adventurous Day

I was out of bed by 6:00. Parker woke me up when he sent the pre-sunrise photo at the bottom right. He and his Dad were out in the river fishing for striped bass; they quickly caught their limit. Things were going smoothly until I noticed a dark streak of “something” on the kitchen wall. Hubby emptied the first three of my canned goods shelves looking for the culprit. We are thinking it may have been a leaking can of peaches. What a mess and a time waster. We checked off all the items on our list, got in the van and went nowhere. The car battery was dead. Hubby has every gadget ever made and he had the portable jump start machine ready to go in seconds. Off we went. My meds have been free for the last 24 years. Not today. The pharmacist insisted he’d submitted the two drugs through my insurances (I have 3). Rather than belay the point, I paid and left. Next stop was to buy six gift cards for my grands. Sweet Frog opens at 10. Wouldn’t you know, they were closed till noon today for a private party. The place was packed with preschoolers and there were yogurt toppings everywhere. The young girl behind the counter could tell I was ready to burst out crying and she made an exception. With cards and meds secured, we were finally heading to PA although for a while, I wasn’t sure we’d get out of St. Mary’s Co today. I enjoyed a tasty Firehouse salad for lunch and we got to our hotel in time to check in and unload our car before heading to Mass. We attended the 5:00 pm Liturgy at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Malvern, PA. This parish has existed since 1915 but the church building looks new. It had gorgeous stained glass, great acoustics, beautiful music and the Deacon gave a very thought provoking homily. The priest seemed to be of South Asian decent but spoke perfect English. We were refreshed. We found a local BBQ restaurant for dinner. Hubby drove 180 miles today and is beat. He did a great job of getting us here safely. It felt nice to recline on our hotel room’s couch in my pjs. Parker’s first game is at 8:30. They changed the tournament location after we made our hotel reservations (seems to happen regularly with these travel tournaments). Rather than 5 miles from the fields, we are now 16 but they look easy to find. This is our first time in this area although we came to Philadelphia 24 years ago for a mini honeymoon. Our anniversary is Monday. Enjoy your weekend folks but stay safe. Thanks for stopping by. “The hardest part of an adventure is getting to the start point.” Mark Beaumont
