Singing in the Rain

The heavy rain overnight and this morning left the ground saturated. This road in the village was impassable on foot without high waterproof boots. It’s at a point where one stream bringing water from the South Downs meets the main tributary running through the village. I attempted to walk through the water with my walking boots on but decided to retreat.

After I finished my course this evening, I walked in the dark. In the village centre there was a large gathering of people singing carols accompanied by a silver band. It was heartwarming to see so many people gathered to sing together on a damp and windy night.

Grateful today:
- For the insight, support and kindness of those on my course.
- For the pause in the rain and beautiful light that emerged.
- For the company of Andy and Merlin this Saturday evening.
