Maeshowe Effect
The extraordinary effect created by the low sun shining through door and window openings in the ruins of Peathill Kirk this morning made me realise how powerful the impact of the sunlight shining down the passage at Maeshowe must have been on the shortest day of a dark Orcadian winter.
The xtra shows the architects drawings for the unroofing and stabilisation of the ruin in 1959.
