Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

I took Archie out quite early today, after JR had gone to the gyms, because I had a medical appointment mid morning. What next? I hear you ask - she's had everything checked recently...

Well, no. My eyesight has been getting worse rather rapidly of late. I've never had to wear glasses - I can see well enough, and iPads are great, I can enlarge text. But, of late, I haven't been able to read the subtitles on the tv, nor yet the list of programmes. So I trotted along to Specsavers. I was there for an hour, they were very thorough, testing this and that. Drops in my eyes, which meant I really couldn't see much at all. I had intended going on into town to get some new slippers, but I thought better of such an adventure, when I really couldn't see anything clearly at all. Cataracts, though not too bad at the moment… *sigh*

I got home OK. Passing the new pillarbox bomb - a Nativity scene, Bravo! Although there's no really good angle on it, there are always several figures with their back to the camera. I could see that there were twinkling lights set up on it, so I went back later to take a photo.

We popped down to Toast for a coffee and cake glass of wine with Abi and Pip, whom we haven't seen for ages. They're planning to go to South Africa early next year, so we had plenty of advice for them.

On the way home we came round by the twinkling nativity scene lights. Well done, those crochet bombers!

No idea why it went all italics…
