Tomato Flowers
It was hot yesterday. It was hotter today. I wore sandals to work (without socks but with meticulously scrubbed feet). It was not enough.
Several coleagues wore shorts. Legs that hadn't seen the sun since last year's holidays were unleashed on a world that wasn't prepared for that much very pale flesh.
We had the shutters rolled down at 10:30 and 2 electric fans working hard but it was not enough. The temperature climbed steadily, and so did my intake of water (over 3 litres) and it was still not enough.
Advice came from management - take the liner out of your plastic bin, half fill it with cold water, stick it under your desk and stick your feet in it. I love that idea and feel it may be the way forward.
Who needs expensive, environmentally unfriendly air conditioning? Bucket of cold water, that's the future. And we can use the water afterwards to water plants.
Came home to comatose cats. Been here for 3 hours and they still haven't asked for food. Expect a riot at 3 in the morning.
How hot was it? 34°C in the office when I left. Over 43 on the terrace when I got home.
Tomato flowers. On the terrace. Pretty.
