Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Today was the day that I finally gave Archie a haircut. I footered about all morning, doing other important jobs, and then maybe not having time to cut his hair. I took him down to the hardware shop to stock up on kitchen lights (another two are flickering). I washed sheets and hung them on the pulley, right where I put the hair cutting table. I tried all sorts of diversions. But eventually got his special table out of the shed, and the clippers out of the cupboard, and then there was nothing else for it but to set to. I think that when we come back from holidays, I'll look to find a proper dog groomer. Maybe...

Anyway, we got it done, he was getting really fed up by the end. He shakes like a jelly when I do his hind region. HATES his tail being done, and tosses his head around when I do his beard & eyebrows. But he does look smart. Apart from a few bald patches on his chest...

JR took him out after that, wearing his coat, though he really didn't need it. And she didn't take a photo, so he and I went out again, round the Links. Every time I tried to get him standing side on, to show his haircut, he sat and looked at the camera, like the Good Boy he is. But eventually I got him...

I finished off Sam Neil's podcast, and also listened to a very interesting one about a young woman who specialises in forensic detective work. Gruesome, but fascinating.
