Hellebore
A fellow blipper had an extra today of a hellebore in flower, which caused me to look at ours. I hadn’t removed the year’s foliage, so nothing was evident, but when I did I was surprised to find one hidden flower and lots of flower buds. A welcome surprise.
Being winter flowering the flowers are downcast to protect the precious pollen and nectar from the rain - which we are having plenty of. The camera phone really does work for this kind of image as it can be laid virtually on the ground and pointed upwards to capture an image.
