Ice Burns
Indeed it does, so a lazy morning was had at Chez Ms.Arell until the frost melted after lunchtime.
We mounted our pedal powered horses and she led the way along some amazing cycle paths. We jumped off one for a short while to get to Dalkeith Country Park for lunch. The Palace looked amazing but the remains of the Orangery were next level gorgeous (Extra 1) with intricate detail on the bottom half and characterful little gargoyles surrounding the top edge.
Riding out through the centre of Dalkeith we briefly stopped at a lovely drinking fountain, erected in 1899 to mark the centenary of the death of Robert Burns. Inside each corner are snapping Crocodiles of which the significance we were unsure. The 'tinternet says a Scots poem titled 'The Crocodile' was written by J.K.Annand to celebrate Burns' birthday, so am going to take that as the likely inspiration (main blip & extra 2)
We rode back along another fab railway path, Ms Arell really gelling with her lovely new touring bike (Extra 3) arriving home under the stars & a satellite that we thought was the ISS but was not (still to solve that mystery)
