Brighton - old and new
Down in Brighton with friends to see the Moody Blues in the Brighton Centre - probably the 4th time we've seen the Blues there.
It's the Summer Solstice today but you'd never guess with the weather here in Brighton. Overcast, misty, dull, pretty miserable. The top of the Big Wheel and blocks of flats were touching the low hanging clag. Which is why I took this in black and white again. Sums up the weather. Using colour would be a waste - there was none.
This shot is from the pier, showing some of the pier's architecture at the same time as showing the modern wheel - which seems to be the "must have" tourist attraction nowadays.
Nevertheless, the cloud cleared and the sun appeared for the last couple of hours of the day and Brighton seemed a different place.
The Moody Blues were excellent, still sublime after over 45 years and although their music is from its time, it has aged well and seems timeless. A very enthusiastic audience, if a little on the elderly side. The merchandise store sold incontinence pads and the bars served Horlicks. (That last sentence is not true)
Afterwards we went for a couple of drinks in The Sussex on the edge of the Lanes. Two very, very good pints of London Pride, then back to the Royal Albion Hotel for the night
