More old photos and negatives!
This morning I did some shopping and was disappointed to find that our local Boots was so poorly stocked it had none of the four things on my list! The cosmetics items were all locked up which they never used to be…even cheap nail varnish. However it does have a dispensary section and a couple of people were queuing there. Superdrug which now occupies the old Woolworths site was well stocked and looked well cared for too…. no problem getting what I needed and I signed up to become a ‘ member ‘ as there were then discounts for several of my purchases.
The river seems to have subsided compared to last week, no flooding any more when I took Libby for a walk.
This afternoon I did a bit more looking through photos and found some old negatives from which my old B & W photos would have been printed. See blip. There seem to be 2 different sizes so I’m guessing two different cameras. The prints are not enlarged they are straight from the negatives, hence being small. I don’t think my parents ever got any enlarged! I looked at the price for developing and printing ( at the local chemist who I imagine sent them away to be done) and the price on some was around 3 or 4 shillings. Using a conversion website I’ve worked out that it was about the equivalent of £6.50 today.
I have a very old camera in the house that was my mothers so I will look it I out and see if that was used for any of these prints.
I did a camera course about 15 years ago where there was a dark room…if I had had the negatives then it would have been interesting to develop some prints.
