Today's the day

Today's the day . . . . . . . . for a late lunch

A relaxed morning in Penicuik - and then we headed off to East Lothian for a bit of a trip down memory lane for Roma and I.  We both had childhood memories of happy summer holidays spent in the small seaside town of North Berwick.

About 5kms east along the coast from North Berwick is Tantallon Castle (see extra), a ruined mid-14th-century fortress.  It sits at the top of the cliffs looking out into the Firth of Forth, opposite the Bass Rock.  We walked down to Seacliff Bay, where there is a tiny harbour cut into the rock - and looked back at it.

And then we went for a late lunch at the wonderful Drift  Restaurant nearby.  It started life as three metal 'containers' - which have been cleverly transformed into a comfortable venue, with a view to die for.  And the food - well that was mouthwateringly delicious . . . . .
