Tongland Power Station

Today's the day ........................ for a bird's eye view

I've featured the Tongland Hydro Power Station lots of times on blipfoto.  It's always very tempting because it is a striking-looking Art Deco building - and it's just up the road!  Here's one I did a few years back, taken from the other side of the River Dee, over on the right of the picture above.

Will recently found this old postcard of it which must have been taken perhaps in the 1950s.  It was still looking new and pristine and of course, it was operated by The Galloway Water Power Company back then.  

It is undergoing a big re-furbishment at the moment that is almost completed - and it will be interesting to see how it all looks when they take off the plastic wrapping that has been round it for the past couple of years. ......................
