Nightmare Journey!
The nightmare wasn't the journey to school with the girls, it was on the way home.
Anyway, this morning the girls were good as gold, got up, got dressed, had breakfast and a bit of TV and off we went to school. We were a bit early so the girls played with the sand. I use the term 'Sand' a bit loosely as it was a rather dark grey colour, mixed with soil and composted leaves over the winter. Hetty had a white coat on (not in the picture) and it quickly got filthy. When we got back to Julia's, after picking them up in the afternoon, it went straight into the washing machine.
We left a little after 18:00. My sat nav told me we'd be home at 21:25 so that was pretty normal journey time.
We actually got home at 22:10, which wasn't bad considering the M42 was down to one lane, the signs were saying "M5 South Exit Closed", so I nearly came off at Bromsgrove but kept going to find it wasn't closed at all.
Onto the M5 and signs said "Jct 7 - 9 Worcester M5 closed" and yes it was! the whole motorway Southward was closed.
All the traffic left the M5 to the North of Worcester and we all headed down the A4404. The sat nav told me to keep going towards Malvern but I decided to ignore it and head for Tewkesbury, which was a better option for going to Gloucester.
A very twisty A38 took us to the North of Tewkesbury, onto the M50 for a few hundred yards, where it stops when it joins the M5. Joined the M5 to be confronted with "M5 Closed Jct 9-11" That is Tewkesbury junction to the Gloucester junction - another bare faced lie!!! People were leaving the motorway but it looked clear beyon Jct 9 so we kept going and had a very quiet motorway to ourselves all the way to Gloucester. Unlike the Northbound where there was an horrendous accident. Goodness knows how many police cars, ambulances, fire/rescue engines. Obviously there was a gigantic tail back.
Anyway, we got home, unloaded the car and did my blip.
Night Night everyone, Night Night (as Harry Corbett and Sooty used to say).
