Good Friday
This morning there was Good Friday service at 11 am. Janet and John go in early, and we followed later, picking up Bernard on the way. It was a very moving service of readings, some from the Bible, a couple written from the point of view of characters featuring in the day’s events, such as the centurion, interspersed with hymns, prayers and communion. After the service, we took Bernard home, while Janet and John went on to an ecumenical service on the square. So dinner was quite late, but after a coffee, Janet, Roger and I went for a neighbourhood walk. It was a day of sunshine and showers, and whilst we started our walk in the dry, the rain returned while we were out, and we got quite wet. Soon after we returned, the sun reappeared, and there was a beautiful rainbow. We also got to see two green perokeets in the garden, who seem to have moved up north and settled in the area!
In the evening, Janet and John were involved in another musical event, this time an abridged version of the Messiah, at a church in Bramall, about 30 minutes drive away. Again, they left first - John was accompanying from his keyboard, so had to get it set up with the sound. We followed a bit later, and as we drove, we were treated to beautiful light, and another stunning rainbow. All the money raised from the performance supports a charity helping people in Kenya.
Being a Friday, I had to surround the picture of the cross with some of the beautiful flowers from Janet’s garden, for Flower Friday. I’ve put in a couple of extras of the rainbows.
