2468 Motorway

I have spent most of today travelling up and down the motorways of North West England. Except, I wasn’t going anywhere when I took the picture. Everything had ground to a complete halt near Preston and you can tell from the angle of some of the vehicles in front of me that there was possibly an obstruction up ahead.
Fortunately, we were only stationary for a few minutes before everybody started crawling forward again. At which point the reason for the delay became clear. We had to filter down from four lanes to one in order to get past a multi vehicle accident. I counted eight cars, but I think some of those had just stopped to assist as there were only three or four cars and a van with obvious damage. I don’t think anyone was injured as there were no ambulances and the police on the scene were looking pretty relaxed as they waved us past.
There was a lot of travelling today but very little to show for it. I dropped in on mum who was having her lunch. Obviously quite happy looking after herself, so I carried on to the hospital to visit my sister. Only to find she’d been moved to a different ward as she had come down with Covid so I couldn’t see her! Not a totally wasted journey as the Ward Manager wanted to see me in order to get some family background, contact details, known issues, etc.
Hopefully the antibiotics they’re giving her will get rid of the Covid pretty quickly and I’ll be able to see her when we’re down again next week.
