Laphroaig Malt Floor
Woke up this morning to drizzle and overcast skies. Not the best for J's water to whisky tour at Laphroaig. After spending the morning going to get some hay fever tables for J and having a quick stop off at Laphroaig to find our 1ft of land and see if there were any spaces for Steve on the tour, sadly not.
Steve dropped us off at Laphroaig a few minutes later for the water to whisky tour. We were joined by 6 Norwegians who were doing a round of the distilleries as well. Nice guys but all very tall.
The tour started with lunch and a dram before heading off to the water source, a fresh water spring that has been dammed. Here we had another dram cut with water from the stream before heading off to cut some peat.
After the peat cutting it was back to the distillery to have a full tour before heading into the warehouse to try three casks.
Once we had decided on our favourite it was time to bottle one ourselves. A nice 250ml sample to take home.
We then met a slightly drunk Steve in the shop before walking home with a few more bottles and souvenirs.
As the weather was slightly better we took the good omen and had a BBQ. While it was being lit we took Rjukan off for a walk and to take some photos.
Great day and a great tour.
