Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Up early to cut the grass. These bloomin’ daisies! The neighbour (whom we never see) came out to ask about borrowing the lawn mower. I thought he’d come out to complain about the noise at their bedroom window at 9.30 on a Sunday morning.

It was not such a nice day as yesterday- of course it wasn’t! But the morning was sunny, and it was DRY for our visitors in the afternoon. The South African travellers came to fill us in on the best bits of their SA adventure. I think it was swimming with seals! AND seeing meerkats waking up, AND walking with elephants, AND seeing a group of young lions hunting (and catching) a baby warthog.

We stayed outside for ages until we got too cold. Archie was going crazy because there were carrots! When I eventually suggested we move inside about 5pm, it was greeted with cries of joy.

Hazel happened to arrive home from her day out at the same time as we were seeing the others off, so she came in and helped us with the last bottle of wine.

We also, at last, got our fabulous print from our pal in Adelaide framed and found a wall for it. Archie is admiring it in its new position in the kitchen, just above his doggie bowls. Thanks, Janny, we love it!
