Out Of Sorts

A painted turtle on its way back to the lake. I found it in a drainage culvert by the road near the prairie. I would think it about a foot long. If you look closely there is a snail attached to its shell. I suspect she had been to lay eggs on the other side of the road.

I was able to get quite close for this shot, something I normally cannot do. Nice to be able to see the detail of her markings.
