Flowers at the Farm

This summer’s drought has wreaked havoc on my sister’s flower gardens. She has several wildflower gardens but they could not withstand the parched dirt and intense heat. I went around the farm early this am and tried to capture the beauty that still exists. Some flowers may be past their prime but there is still loads of color/nectar for the bees, butterflies, hummers and us to enjoy. As I mentioned yesterday, we cleaned the house, the men mowed the lawn and finished a few outside jobs. Hubby thoroughly cleaned the garage that is just like a large rec room. We washed all the dirty laundry and changed the linens. It’s 3:30 and my sister is vacuuming the last hallway. But now we will be free to go to town tomorrow. Kim and her family are doing final preps for their trip up through New England. Their primary focus will be Maine. Sure hope they get to see a ton of wildlife. This is their first big family vacation. Kim’s MIL has a home in the Outer Banks so that is where they usually vacation. I have Shadow duty or we would have stayed here one more day. Instead, we will leave the Italian festival early so we will get a good night’s sleep. Our BIL is making a fish fry for dinner. Perch are my favorite fish so I am happy. It’s another meal we will all help with but deep frying the fish is the big job. I hope you have someone to help with your daily jobs. Stay safe. Thanks for your visit. “Flowers whisper ‘Beauty!’ to the world, even as they fade, wilt, fall.”– Dr. SunWolf
