Diary of an Edinburgher

Bin Find no 654

This morning I watched the last half hour or so of last night’s Opening Ceremony, having given up in the interminable speeches. The whole thing was Very Very Long. But spectacular at times. And totally bonkers at other times.

But really, they must have discussed a ‘Plan B’ in the event of torrential rain… , maybe cutting it a bit shorter…Evidently NOT. It would be a real shame if half those poor contestants who were out in torrential rain (with no ponchos) for four hours last night all came down with a cold…

Archie went out with Elizabeth, and he met a ten year old schnauzer called Archie! What are the chances?

JR went into town to get a new battery for the watch which has never kept proper time since she inherited it from Uncle A. But no - watch shops don’t DO batteries. Nor do they sell new straps…

And I watched some events, time trial cycling, tennis, beach volleyball but best of all - Rugby Sevens. What brilliant fast games! I had to go and stand right in front of the television to see the action properly. Well done France!

I spotted JR’s phone in the kitchen after she’d gone out. Nothing I could do. She eventually came home, worried sick, in a panic. She hadn’t noticed it missing till much later on, and so she was thinking she’d left it in a shop or dropped it in the bus.

AND she couldn’t count her steps today!!!
