Another day in Glasgow!

Same time, same bus (Ember), same driver but had S with me today.

We arrived around 10:10 and headed to another coffee shop, Hinba, way up Sauchiehall Street. Another excellent coffee, yum, and a pastry.

After that we had a look in the shop next door, called On a Wall near You. Loads of really good poster type pictures and I bought one, a Banksy, Life is Beautiful.

I was meeting members of my Club for lunch in a Thai restaurant in Buchanan Street. There were 6 of us and then the rest were going to the Van Gogh exhibition at the SEC at 2:30. The food was excellent and so was the Company. Really good chat. Two of the ladies have moved from South Africa to Crieff and it was really interesting hearing their stories.

The picture is us on the steps of the Thai restaurant. The song by Rod Stewart , Maggie May with the line ‘the morning sun when it’s in you’re face really shows your age’ - take out morning and add harsh mid day with it sunglasses and you will understand why I have no eyes lol!

They went to Van Gogh and I met up with S on Sauchiehall Street. We decided to go into the Mitchell Library and see if we could get help from one of the researchers to find out what happened to my grandmother’s son who was born in 1923 and left there while she returned to her married life in Dundee. She gave us a few pointers and advice to follow up. The Mitchell is a stunning old building , inside and out. We will be back.

Walked back to Buchanan street for the bus home. Same driver, good run home. Pretty shattered .

No need for tea again just a bit of toast later and a cheer to Andy and his doubles partner for getting through to the next round.
