The repair shop

I went to the mid-week communion service at church this morning, then this afternoon Smithers and I looked after our two youngest granddaughters while our daughter-in-law was getting ready for their trip to Poland on Saturday.

L, the older of the two girls, was wearing this necklace when she arrived, which she was clearly very fond of, but unfortunately at some point during the afternoon the chain pulled away from the clasp. Granny was required to perform some surgery to put it all back together again, which she only managed to do by using a double strand of sewing cotton and knotting it round the two parts as securely as she could. I didn’t have pliers small enough to tighten the chain around the clasp, and wanted to make sure the repair would be comfortable for L to wear.

I’m not sure how long the repair will last because (nearly) seven year old girls tend to be a bit heavy-handed sometimes, and children’s jewellery is very fragile!
