Ice Machine
Technically, it’s a freezer, but it seems to spend most of its time producing ice that has to be removed at regular intervals. Having eaten as much as possible from the freezer over the weekend, today seemed like a good day to defrost it, before restocking tomorrow.
The observant amongst you will have noticed I have also taken the door off. Not usually necessary when defrosting, but I’ve thought for a while that the hinges were a bit worn. So I ordered a new pair from t’internet and set about fitting them whilst all the ice melted. Replacing the hinges was fairly straightforward, but refitting the door threw up a couple of issues as I tried to get it lined up and shutting properly.
All sorted eventually, but I did discover that the original hinges were probably not as worn as I thought and that what I’d thought was wear and tear might actually just have been a little pin that was catching on the base of the door. Won’t do it any harm having new hinges fitted after fifteen odd years of service though, and I’ll keep the ones I took off as spares in case of future issues.
Just enough time now to get cleaned up before heading to the theatre. As well as a rehearsal tonight, we’re also having headshots done for the programme. Must make sure I’m looking handsome and debonair…
