USAF Band of Flight

Tuesday
Today was sunny and cooler, so we decided to leave our exercise until the early afternoon when it had warmed up a bit. In the morning, while I was reading and doing my Duolingo Spanish, I received a phone call from Cincinnati Eye Institute, following my referral from the optometrist yesterday afternoon. She was a very pleasant lady, and after asking me several questions, was able to schedule me for an appointment tomorrow afternoon! That’s what I call good service!
We chose hiking at Rowe Woods for our exercise - see extra collage.
In the evening there was the final outdoor summer concert at the Blue Ash Nature Centre. Unfortunately this was the only one we have managed to get to this summer. This evening’s performance was by the United States Air Force Band of Flight. I think a number of people were expecting a traditional brass band, but as you can see from my collage, this was a different kind of band. They are based at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, a little further north from Cincinnati. They present more than 250 performances annually, providing music for official military functions and ceremonies, civic events and public concerts, as well as appearing at recruiting events at high schools and colleges. They had a great sound and clearly loved what they do. It was a chilly evening however, and we both wished we had taken a jacket along - we’re not used to feeling cold in August in southern Ohio!
