Peregrine Falcon ( Falco peregrinus )
We had to go to Carlisle for something for maintenance at the Lodge. We have a week with nobody staying and there are so many jobs I need to get on with. As the DIY "shed" stays open until 8:00pm we treated our selves to a walk round Carlisle. At one time we would be in the town twice a week dropping repairs off for our jobbing jeweller. We certainly haven't been post Covid.
A Peregrine has been hanging around the Cathedral all season, I suspect if it had found a mate it would have bred there. Many Cathedrals have their resident pair of Peregrines. For our coffee and cake stop we headed for the cathedral cafe, because that took us past its favourite perch.
It was there, great we got some shots, then off to a cafe that was entirely new since we last visited. After the coffee and cake we wanted more shots. Oh! it gone. Then as we were preparing to leave I spotted it fly in and perch on one of the pinnacles on the corner of the building. More shots.
A very successful afternoon we found all we needed for the DIY, got our Peregrine shots and very nice coffee and cake.
