Leybourne Lakes

In another century, decades ago I used to come here after work to sail. We returned today for the first time since then. Plenty of water sports to be had but no sailing now.

Leybourne Lakes is a country park based around old gravel pits that were closed in the 1970s and is squeezed between industrial estates, major roads and housing estates. Not the most peaceful of locations but easily accessible by many footpaths.

We were over this way to collect stuff so decided to call in and see the Lakes. It was OK, not somewhere we would make a special effort to return too.

Had a good long sleep from of 12 hours 10.30pm last night. Feeling more alert as the day went on. Thank you all for your messages and comments yesterday. Hopefully, tomorrow I’ll be back visiting journals regularly.

Dark clouds built up as the afternoon progressed. Nothing happened. They’re still there. We have a yellow warning for rain over the next 12 hours in the south. Yet the BBC app says “light showers” overnight.
