A time for everything

Grand door

Wednesday
We went cycling on the bike trail late morning, starting from Mathers Mill, for 14 miles return. It was a beautiful sunny day, with lovely cloud formations, and very quiet along the trail, in contrast to our Monday bike ride, which was a holiday, and really busy especially to start with. The parking lot is right by the river, which you could easily see was low, with almost no current. When we left to come home, I asked R if we could make a slight detour to nearby Lebanon, since I thought it would be a good place to look for some suitable doors for the WIDE Wednesday challenge. I didn’t want to spend too long looking, so I went with the Old County Courthouse with its quite imposing door. According to the historic plaque outside, the courthouse was originally built in the Greek Revival style in 1835. Court was held on the second floor, with offices on the first. At that time, it had six large tin pillars. After two votes to demolish, it failed, as did a move to make Morrow the county seat. Until probate court left in 1996, it was the second oldest courthouse in Ohio. A large renovation took place in 1999
